In Turkey, being lesbian, gay, bisexual, or being transgender (LGBT) is not a crime under law. Actually laws enable sexual change operations. However, because there are no laws that protects LGBT individuals; judges or prosecutors or other government officials may act according to homophobia. Closure attempts for Lambdaistanbul clearly show the existence of homophobia at government offices and in government officials’ minds.
The first trial of closure prosecution occurred in 19th July 2007. The second trial will be held in 18th October 2007 at 11:00 am, at 5th court of Beyoglu Sutluce Courthouse.
During that period, if you want to support Lambdaistanbul here are things that you can do:
1) You may send the text bellow to the related institutions via fax, mail or e-mail

We are concerned about the closure prosecution of Lambdaistanbul. Preventing right to establish an association, and belonging to an association are against fundamentals of democracy, thus it indicates a serious decline of human rights.
We believe that such wrong regulations and steps will be abolished.
Respectfully,
